Motorized beach wheelchair rentals for the Outer Banks. We do all the heavy lifting — delivering the Sand Scooter to your door and picking it up at the end of your vacation. With Sand Helper, no family member gets left behind!
Weekly Sand Scooter Rentals — $600
One weekly rental of our 4×4 motorized beach wheelchair. We drop off and pick up the chair and provide two batteries (one spare) that go ~8 miles each, plus a charger. See the FAQ below or contact us for more info.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I store the scooter during my multi-day rental period?
In the lobby, right outside the lobby, or in the parking lot or garage of your beach condo — anywhere it isn’t blocking traffic. Take the key inside for security when the chair isn’t in use. The batteries are removable and can be charged inside your room.
How long do the batteries last?
The wheelchair holds two batteries and runs off one at a time, with the other as a spare. On a single charge it goes approximately 8 miles. The batteries are removable and rechargeable — carry them inside and plug into the wall overnight. Chargers are provided.
How do I charge the Sand Scooter?
It has two 12 lb removable batteries (with key). At night, leave the wheelchair in a safe place downstairs and carry the batteries inside to charge overnight. We provide the chargers, which work like a laptop charger and plug into a standard 110V outlet.
How do I get into the beach wheelchair?
Most people step onto the footplate in front. You can also fold an armrest up, sit from the side between the tires, then bring your legs around to face forward. Dimensions: seat height 27″, tire diameter 21″, and side-of-seat to outside-of-tires 8″.
How is it delivered and transported?
We deliver the wheelchair directly to where you are staying — no need to move it yourself. Because of the large sand tires it won’t fit through a standard door, so it stays downstairs or outside and you keep the key for security.
How long can I rent the electric beach wheelchair?
We require a one-week minimum rental, with no maximum. It travels about 4 mph (average walking pace). We accept all credit cards, cash, and checks. For more info, contact our partners at Sand Helper: info@sandhelper.com.
